VoIP - A World Without Wires

People everywhere are choosing not to be tied to or restricted by plugs, wires and cables. The world is going wireless.

VoIP Phones
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. You can use VoIP in a fixed location with a broadband modem, or go wireless, using a wireless local area network, and the appropriate networking card.
Get Mobile!
Computers are portable, telephones are cellular, and now VoIP is enabling a whole new breed of wireless gadgets.

Why You Have To Consider a VoIP Solution

VoIP Saves You Money
You simply pay for your Internet service, and then whichever VoIP provider you choose. For a one time monthly fee, you can have unlimited local and long distance phone calls.

Talk with Multiple People for no Extra Cost
With VoIP, you can avoid paying extra for services such as three way calling. You can have more than three people on the phone at once, so VoIP is the perfect solution for those who need conference calls.

Greater Flexibility with VoIP
By using VoIP, you can take your VoIP equipment with you whenever you travel. Your VoIP service provider will send you a converter that will allow you to use your converter with any standard telephone.

Save Money for Family and Friends by Choosing Your Area Code
Many VoIP service providers will give you the option of selecting your own area code number so family members and friends can call you locally, if you select the same area code number.

The Integration of Audio and Data
VoIP combines audio and data, allowing users to interact with data while using audio capabilities.

For Businesses VoIP allows Real Time Interaction
Where businesses and customers are both VoIP technology, troubleshooting customer’s problems can be much easier, since they can communicate on the computer and on phone at the same time.

VoIP includes many Features for Free
Many VoIP services include features that normally cost money with standard PSTN, such as Voice Mail, Call Forwarding, Call Waiting, Caller ID, Call Blocking, Faxing, and Toll Free Calling.

VoIP Saves Businesses Money
Many companies have advanced telecommunications needs. Since VoIP integrates data and video with voice, many companies are finding it cost effective and more productive to go wireless.

Reduce In-house Phone Lines
VoIP does not require additional phone lines for multiple users. You can save money by using VoIP services throughout your entire house, for no additional cost.

VoIP Builds a Faster Network
For companies that need to build a large network, not only will VoIP incorporate data, audio, video, and web features, but you can build a faster network over the Internet then you can with PSTN. By using software tools instead of hardware tools, your network may be monitored and assessed at any time using only a central program.

To start making VoIP calls, you will need a broadband or high-speed Internet connection. This can be through a cable modem, or high speed services such as DSL or a local area network. You can either connect an simple microphone to your computer and make your call through this, or connect your phone to a telephone adaptor.
Your VoIP calls may be free, providing you are calling someone who is a subscriber to the same service. And you may avoid paying long distance charges.
Some providers charge for a long distance call to a number outside your calling area, whereas other services allow you to call anywhere for a fixed number of minutes at a flat rate.
A VoIP phone allows you to make telephone calls over a data network like the Internet.
VoIP converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that travels over the internet to the call receiver, where it is converted back so you can speak to anyone with a normal phone number.
Depending on your VoIP service, you may either use a normal phone with an adaptor, or call directly from a computer using a conventional telephone or a microphone.
To place a VoIP call, you can either pick up your phone and dial the number, using an adaptor that connects to your existing broadband Internet connection. The call is routed through your local telephone company to a VoIP provider, and is then relayed over the Internet to the recipient's local telephone company for the completion of the call.
The other option is to utilize a microphone headset plugged into your computer. The number is placed using the keyboard and is routed through your modem.
